The linked identity already exists for your account.

You attempted to link an identity which was already linked to your account. This can happen if you selected "ACCESS CI (XSEDE)" when you were prompted to "Select an Identity Provider", or if you selected the university/organization you used when you registered for your ACCESS account. 

Linking another account to your ACCESS account can be a bit confusing since you are asked to log in twice. The first time, you log in to your ACCESS account using an existing method, e.g., either your ACCESS ID/username and password, or your university account. The second time, you must select a DIFFERENT identity that you want to link to your ACCESS account. 

Please follow these steps to link another account to your ACCESS account.

  1. Visit https://cilogon.org/me/?submit=Delete+ALL&hide=browser+session+environment . This will delete all CILogon browser cookies.
  2. Visit https://registry.access-ci.org/registry/auth/logout and click the "LOGIN" button.
  3. In the "Select an Identity Provider" box, choose either "ACCESS CI (XSEDE)" or your existing identity provider (e.g., your university) and click the "Log On" button.
  4. If you chose "ACCESS CI (XSEDE)", enter your ACCESS ID/username and password. If you get an error that your password is incorrect, visit https://identity.access-ci.org/password-reset and enter your ACCESS ID to have a password reset email sent to your registered address. If you chose your university or other identity provider, log in as you typically would.
  5. If you are prompted to enroll in Duo for ACCESS, Install the Duo security app on your phone and configure it to use Duo Mobile / Duo Push. (Screenshots can be found here.) Otherwise, authenticate with one of your registered Duo methods.
  6. You should be redirected to the "ACCESS Identity Dashboard".
  7. Click on your name in the upper-right corner of the page.
  8. Select “Link another account” from the drop-down list.
  9. On the "Link another account" page, click the "BEGIN" button.
  10. In the "Select an Identity Provider" box, choose the identity provider for the account (e.g., university) that you want to link to your ACCESS ID. DO NOT choose “ACCESS CI (XSEDE)”.
  11. Log in with your chosen Identity Provider as you typically would.
  12. Follow the prompts to complete the linking process.

Upon completion of the linking process, you should be able to log on to ACCESS sites by choosing either "ACCESS CI (XSEDE)" or your linked identity when prompted to "Select an Identity Provider".
